5 Must-watch 2021 Shows and Movies

Starting from the first vaccination drive to a big-screen release or going on a holiday after much uncertainty, the year 2021 was a roller coaster ride! But, amid such interminable limbo, some Television shows and movies took us to our couches. They helped us stay entertained to a great extent.

Here’s a list of the best 2021 shows and movies which are must-watch. Add these to your watch list, in case you have missed any!

1. Spider-Man: No Way Home

After much speculations, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ was released in 2021 and was the first and only movie of the year to surpass billion dollars at the global box office. This mammoth box-office collection is justified considering what the film is made of: entertainment, excellent acting, power-packed action sequences, and nostalgia!

The Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield-starrer Spider-man movie offer a tidy plot, better character development, wacky humor, and powerful emotional tickles.

We do not want to give any spoilers if you are yet to witness this sheer magic on the screen. With this, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ is one of the best 2021 shows and movies.

2. Sardar Udham

This film is perhaps one of the finest Hindi movies of 2021, played by Vicky Kaushal. The film’s name shows that it pays tribute to an Indian revolutionary, Sardar Udham Singh, who avenged the Jallianwala Bagh massacre (1919) by assassinating Michael O’Dwyer in 1940 in London.

Unlike most jingoistic patriotic movies, Sardar Udham shows the mental turmoil and the pain and grief of this national hero that he witnessed when this barbaric crime happened in his 20’s.

If you want to know about this unsung hero and his quiet existence in a refined version, this film is for you!

3. The Underground Railroad on Amazon

The Oscar-winning director Barry Jenkins did justice to Colson Whitehead’s The Underground Railroad (Pulitzer-winning novel) and gave a unique dimension to the original plot without messing it up.

The ‘escape-from-slavery’ theme of the film vigorously fights racism and white supremacy that persists around the world. The setting, background score, and flawless acting will leave you in awe, making it one of the most remarkable 2021 shows and movies.

4. Squid Game on Netflix

Most likely, you already have watched Squid Game by now! If not, then you cannot afford to miss this survival K-drama that left millions of viewers horrified across the world. Their compelling performances and crisp writing made them hooked to this ‘edge-of-the-seat’ show.

Catch up on this show ASAP if you haven’t yet, as most likely, Season 2 is on its way!

5. The White Lotus on HBO

The list of best 2021 shows and movies remains incomplete without mentioning the gem of ‘The White Lotus.’ The sleeper hit is one of the best things that happened in this lockdown-inflicted year. This film carefully conglomerates cringe comedy and wealth satire and, of course, a sense of melancholy that money cannot alleviate.
